Laura Coutts Photography
logo design + branding + copywriting + web design + custom coding + e-commerce
About
When I'm not building websites, I moonlight as a photographer of newborns, babies, children and families under the name Laura Coutts Photography.
The project
Having just launched my business, I required a logo and brand identity, as well as a website that would showcase my images and provide a platform for me to blog easily.
Objectives
- Simple, timeless branding
- Clean, simple website which puts focus on photos
- Full-width galleries to showcase images
- Simple email sign-up to help grow my newsletter
- Small online store where I could sell vouchers
- Integration with business social media accounts
Solution
To ensure that my images remained the focus of the website, each stage of the project was approached using a clean, minimalistic approach. To start the project, I developed a simple, memorable brand with complementary fonts and a minimal colour palette. The website also uses minimal text and colour.
The site structure was carefully planned to ensure visitors could quickly navigate the site and find the information they required. Multiple newsletter sign-up blocks were placed throughout the site and the website was integrated with MailChimp, ensuring that new sign-ups would be saved directly into the MailChimp database. A small online store was built that offers visitors the option of purchasing gift vouchers of varying amounts. Finally a blog was created and linked to all my business social media accounts, ensuring that new blog entries could be quickly pushed through to Facebook. My Instagram feed was also connected with the website, so that new posts would appear on a range of pages.
